A February afternoon in Athens
It is saturday afternoon, February 25 2003, the day of the first greek demonstration against the plans to invade Iraq. A large crowd of demonstrators are heading towards the american embassy in Athens, which is surrounded by the police. I am on my way to my exhibition. I have brought my camera, my constant companion, not wanting to miss a single opportunity to document the world around me and inside of me. In the exhibition area I meet four law enforcement officers who have forgotten their boring tasks of the day and instead rest their minds on my pictures. I decide to take the opportunity to document my unexpected guests. I start to film as we talk about art, but nothing about the impending war and the demonstrations. Time after time the premises are filled with an endless stream of voices, music and anti war slogans. Stubbornly my guests ignore the reality outside, and instead ask questions about art and culture. Finally we agree on the most important question: "Where are we actually heading?"
Did we mean with art, with the world, or with the individual?

4 March 2012

A vernissage is an event where the expectations, dreams, visions, eye glances, embraces, tears, joy, take over, embrace and enrich your life with the unforgettable moment: between dream and many hugs. The afternoon began at the Gallery Art.se hospitable place and ended at the home of Matheo. Thanks to all my artist friends: Loretta Nigals, Bengt Yman, Lena Röpke, Lou Lundqvist, Güntert Rolf, Sara Berlin. Always welcome to my heart, my home!

About Minotaurus

If it's true that cowardice is the worst of all sins...

In our society's labyrinth dwells my second ego, my Minotaurus, and he is depicted in many of my paintings. He flies with joy, cries in his loneliness, ascends to the full moon with his beloved creatures. Ariadne's ball of yarn doesn't lead to death. Minotaurus uses it instead to reach his witch. He takes a stand against everything that smells of globalisation, religion, commercial consuming, "good bargains". Now it's up to all free individuals to chose side, to speak freely and undauntedly, to show feelings, to compose, write, paint, to start conversations and let the thoughts flow. To discover, see and protest against the absurd and unhuman in the new world order. This is how we learn to love.

...then it's love that helps me swim against the stream!
